Baseball Game Preview: Centreville Wildcats vs. South Lakes Seahawks

The Centreville Wildcats will take on the South Lakes Seahawks at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Centreville's pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so South Lakes' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Centreville barely beat Westfield the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Bulldogs on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matchups by 11 runs or more so far this season.

Ian Weber was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and two runs. Centreville is undefeated when Weber posts two or more runs, but 1-2 otherwise. Justin Lee was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, South Lakes beat Oakton 9-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Seahawks in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won three in a row.

Centreville is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for South Lakes, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
