Softball Game Preview: Hilmar Yellowjackets vs. Hughson Huskies

The Hilmar Yellowjackets will take on the Hughson Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Hilmar was handed a 13-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Sonora, sneaking past 5-4.

Meanwhile, Hughson waltzed into their game on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured an 8-7 W against the Warriors.

The team relied heavily on Presley Wells, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in February. Grace Leedom was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.

Hughson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Hughson's win bumped their record up to 12-6-1. As for Hilmar, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-8.
