Volleyball Recap: Branham Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Branham can now relate to. They fell just short of the Leigh Longhorns by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Bruins' loss signaled the end of their seven-game winning streak.

Andrew Casale paced Branham's offense, picking up 17 kills. Casale got some help from Patrick Willson and his 39 assists. Willson also made an impact serving: he shared the team lead in aces with Martin Jones, racking up two apiece.

Branham's defeat dropped their record down to 26-10. As for Leigh, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 25-8.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. Branham will be playing at home against Ripon Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bruins are on a ten-game streak of home wins, the Knights a five-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind. As for Leigh, they will host Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Huskies will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Longhorns surely won't give up without a fight.
