Baseball Recap: Seymour Sets Scoring Season-High Against Henryville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seymour). They blew past the Henryville Hornets 17-2 on Monday. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Jackson Trueblood made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Mack Longmeier and Tylan Nicholson did most of the damage at the plate: Longmeier went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run, while Nicholson went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI Nicholson has posted since back in April of 2024. Caydin Bishop was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Seymour was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Henryville only posted a batting average of .190.

Seymour's record is now 16-6. As for Henryville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-13.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Seymour will face off against Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Henryville, they will take on Salem at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
