Softball Recap: St. Frederick's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last six matchups, St. Frederick finally came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of D'Arbonne Woods by a score of 3-2. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as D'Arbonne Woods apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Abigail Creighton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Avery Houser was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run. She has been hot, having posted at least one home run the last six times she's played.

Even though they lost, St. Frederick hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as D'Arbonne Woods struck out eight times.

St. Frederick's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.6 runs over those games. As for D'Arbonne Woods, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

St. Frederick will venture away from home to square off against Glenbrook at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for D'Arbonne Woods, they will take on East Ascension in a tournament on Saturday.
