Basketball Game Preview: Old Fort Stockaders vs. Gibsonburg Golden Bears

The Old Fort Stockaders are taking a road trip to challenge the Gibsonburg Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Old Fort is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Danbury on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Old Fort had to suffer through a 57-26 loss at the hands of Danbury. The Stockaders were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-6.

Meanwhile, Gibsonburg hadn't done well against Danbury recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Gibsonburg sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 36-34 victory over Danbury. Winning may never get old, but the Golden Bears sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Gibsonburg's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Old Fort, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Old Fort came up short against Gibsonburg in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 59-49. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Gibsonburg's Elly Evarts, who almost dropped a double-double on 36 points and nine steals.
