Russellville picks up sixth straight win on the road

Recap: Russellville Golden Tigers vs. Lawrence County Red Devils

The Russellville Golden Tigers came tearing into Friday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Lawrence County by a score of 74-65. Given Russellville's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Lawrence County is ranked 171st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lawrence County's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylon Dame, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Smith, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.

Russellville pushed their record up to 12-5 with that win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.7 points per game. As for Lawrence County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russellville will take on Hamilton at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lawrence County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brewer at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Brewer focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Tuesday.
