Baseball Recap: Spotswood Find Success

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Spotswood ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 10-8 victory over the Middlesex Bluejays. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Chargers have posted against the Bluejays since April 10, 2019.

Spotswood let Brandon Rivera and Will Buchan run wild. Rivera went 2-for-5 with four RBI and one double, while Buchan got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Spotswood is undefeated when Buchan posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Romeo, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

The victory snapped Spotswood's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-5 record. As for Middlesex, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-3.

Spotswood will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bluejays: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
