Basketball Recap: Gulf Breeze Takes a Loss

Gulf Breeze was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They took a blow against the Washburn Pirates, falling 60-26. The Dolphins lost against the Pirates in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-41 score last time.

Washburn's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Saylor Clay, who posted 20 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Williams, who went 6 of 10 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Gulf Breeze's defeat dropped their record down to 1-13. As for Washburn, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Gulf Breeze and Oliver Springs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. As for Washburn, they and Oak Forest Academy will face off at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. Washburn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.4 points per game this season.
