Basketball Recap: Hillcrest Takes a Loss

Hillcrest lost against Highland back in December of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Hillcrest Huskies took a 57-39 bruising from the Highland Rams. The matchup marked the Huskies' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Hillcrest lost, don't look at Myles Mahler. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points. Guillermo Martinez was another key player, putting up seven points.

Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaiah Drisdom, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. Drisdom is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Bodie Dodge, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 13 points.

Hillcrest is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-4. As for Highland, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

When Hillcrest and Highland next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Hillcrest will try to stop Cedar Valley's three-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.2 points per game this season. Meanwhile, Highland will try to stop Olympus' five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on January 7th.
