Softball Recap: Mulberry's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Mulberry waltzed into their matchup on Monday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They walked away with a 7-4 win over the Davenport Broncos. The Panthers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Broncos, too.

Haylie Hightower spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on 12 hits and racked up eight Ks. Those eight strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, Mulberry let Kensingten Danforth and Zoe Petersen run wild. Danforth went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one double, while Petersen scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Petersen also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lylah Jones, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

The victory got Mulberry back to even at 4-4. As for Davenport, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mulberry will head out to square off against Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davenport, they will venture away from home to challenge Lake Wales at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Davenport is facing Lake Wales at the right time seeing as Lake Wales is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
