Baseball Game Preview: St. Joseph Lancers vs. Warren Township Blue Devils

The St. Joseph Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against the Warren Township Blue Devils at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. St. Joseph is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.

St. Joseph let St. Thomas More stack seven runs on them in the second inning on Thursday but luckily St. Joseph prevailed anyway. The Lancers came out on top against the Cavaliers by a score of 11-7. The game was the first time the Lancers have beaten the Cavaliers on their field since April 26, 2022.

Dominic Santarelli made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Santarelli was even better at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Peter Visconti, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and one triple. That's the most runs he has posted since April 1st. Dominic Rinaldi also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Warren Township had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.1 runs) and they went ahead and made it eight on Wednesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Zee-Bees.

St. Joseph's win was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Warren Township, their record now sits at 14-3.

St. Joseph beat Warren Township 5-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
