Gibbon is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Ord on Friday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Gibbon's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Brooke Sell, who posted seven points along with nine boards and three steals, and Kassandra Trevino, who had eight points in addition to six rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Sell has posted since back in January of 2024.
Even though they lost, Gibbon smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 58 points the game before, Blue Hill was a bit more limited in their game on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 33-19 to Silver Lake.
Gibbon will have to contain Reece Mlady as she made an impact in Blue Hill's last game. She almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds. Mlady is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played.
Blue Hill's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-5. As for Gibbon, their loss dropped their record down to 0-11.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gibbon has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.5 boards per game. However, it's not like Blue Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
