Basketball Game Preview: Shorewood Greyhounds vs. Martin Luther Spartans

After both having extra time off, the Shorewood Greyhounds and the Martin Luther Spartans will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Shorewood has six straight victories, Martin Luther has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Two weeks ago, Shorewood beat Brown Deer 59-51. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 155th, while the Falcons are ranked 319th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Serinity Metcalfe, who dropped a double-double on 36 points and 21 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Shorewood's points. Another player making a difference was Nyah Nelson, who posted eight points and 13 boards.

Meanwhile, Martin Luther lost to St. Joseph at home by a 45-26 margin last Saturday.

Shorewood pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Martin Luther, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-9.
