Basketball Recap: Caprock Academy Comes Up Short

If Caprock Academy was feeling good fresh off their 47-16 takedown of Lotus School For Excellence last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Caprock Academy Eagles took a blow against the De Beque Dragons on Wednesday, falling 54-27. The Eagles have struggled against the Dragons recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Rachel Bogan was Caprock Academy's leading scorer, having posted 12 points. Ashley Wilke held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

De Beque's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ava Vines led the charge by shooting 4-for-7 from long range and dropping a double-double on 19 points and 13 rebounds. Vines is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last five games she's played. Avery Rigsby was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Caprock Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-10. As for De Beque, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Soroco the next time they take the court. Caprock Academy will host Soroco at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, while De Beque will head out to face them at 1:00 p.m. on February 8th.
