Baseball Recap: Fairport Falls to Penfield in First Game of Season

Fairport unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the Penfield Patriots by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Red Raiders have suffered against the Patriots since May 17, 2022.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairport will square off against Newburgh Free Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Penfield, they will take on Churchville-Chili at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Saints' pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so the Patriots' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
