Softball Recap: Bellingham's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Bellingham had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Ursuline Academy on Friday. The Blackhawks were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Bears. The victory was familiar territory for the Blackhawks, who have now won three matches in a row.

Jacobi Houston spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up 16 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ashley Kamin, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleigh Simpson, who went 2-for-5 with three stolen bases.

The win got Bellingham back to even at 8-8. As for Ursuline Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellingham will venture away from home to square off against Norton at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ursuline Academy, they will head out to take on Cardinal Spellman at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
