Basketball Game Preview: McArthur Mustangs vs. Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars

Two dominant forwards in Joshua Barber and Robert Guishard are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The McArthur Mustangs will host the Pembroke Pines Charter Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

McArthur saw some tournament action on Saturday. They took a 58-48 hit to the loss column at the hands of Keys Gate. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Pembroke Pines Charter humbled Westminster Christian with a 66-36 victory. The Jaguars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

McArthur better focus on containing Guishard and Maximo Ortega as the pair were huge in Pembroke Pines Charter's win. Guishard dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, while Ortega went 5 of 10 on his way to 16 points along with six assists and three steals. That's the most assists Ortega has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Hughes, who posted nine points.

Pembroke Pines Charter's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-5. As for McArthur, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

McArthur was taken down by Pembroke Pines Charter 80-38 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point McArthur was down 54-20.
