Basketball Recap: Lenape Valley Takes a Loss

Lenape Valley lost against Jefferson Township on January 6th and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lenape Valley Patriots took a 52-35 bruising from the Jefferson Township Falcons. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 268th, while the Falcons are ranked 57th).

Jefferson Township's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Madison Manco, who went 5 for 11 en route to 14 points. The dominant performance gave Manco a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiley Shatzel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 14 boards.

Lenape Valley is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5. As for Jefferson Township, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season.

Lenape Valley has already played their next contest (against High Point), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Jefferson Township wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 44-37 loss against NV - Demarest on the 25th.
