Preview: Liberty Lancers vs. Doherty Spartans

The Liberty Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Doherty Spartans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Liberty sitting on three straight victories and the Spartans on five.

Liberty only won by three when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 20-point they dealt the Wolves on Tuesday. Everything went Liberty's way against the Wolves as the Lancers made off with a 61-41 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Liberty has managed all season.

London Praytor was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 15 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Cameron Waithe-Cunningham, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Doherty beat the Eagles 61-49 on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doherty to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Mack, who scored 14 points along with six assists and six rebounds. Mack hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of James Pulliam, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds.

Liberty's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Doherty, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-5.

Liberty came up short against the Spartans in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 47-43. Thankfully for Liberty, Christian Drummond (who scored 17 points along with five steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
