Softball Recap: Fairfax Homeschool's Undefeated Season over After 13 Games

Fairfax HomeSchool has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 2.77 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They fell just short of the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons by a score of 15-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Hawks have suffered since April 9, 2024.

Madelyn Shaw was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one triple. Sadie Haas was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fairfax HomeSchool fell to 12-1. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fairfax HomeSchool will challenge Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Hawks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, they will take on Bishop McNamara at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 6.9 runs per game this season.
