Basketball Recap: Avonworth Comes Up Short

Avonworth has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 63-61 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fox Chapel Foxes. The contest was a 24-24 toss-up at halftime, but the Antelopes couldn't quite close it out.

Fox Chapel's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but John Rehak led the charge by going 6 of 14 to rack up 12 points. Grant Fenton was another key player, putting up 11 points and five boards.

Avonworth's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Fox Chapel, their victory bumped their record up to 16-6.

Looking ahead, Avonworth will venture away from home to challenge Upper St. Clair at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Fox Chapel will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Central Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on February 20th.
