Volleyball Recap: Kings Mountain Falls Short Against Ranked Maiden

Kings Mountain faced Maiden in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Mountaineers took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The contest marked the Mountaineers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

The final score came out to 25-23, 25-18, 15-25, 25-17.

Ruby Osborne paced Kings Mountain's offense, picking up 19 kills. Osborne got some help from Abigail Hedgepath and her 22 assists. Hedgepath was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Kings Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 8-1. As for Maiden, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Kings Mountain will head out on the road to square off against Sun Valley at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Maiden, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Foard on the 21st.
