Baseball Game Preview: Cumberland Gap Panthers vs. Scott Highlanders

Cumberland Gap is 6-1 against Scott since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will head out to face off against the Highlanders at 6:00 p.m. Cumberland Gap is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Cumberland Gap needed a bit of extra time to put away Cosby. They skirted past the Eagles 12-10. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Brodie Lee was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Cumberland Gap is 7-1 when Lee posts two or more runs, but 3-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan Garside, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Scott was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against McCreary Central, falling 18-6.

Micah Boles was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Elijah Strunk also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Cumberland Gap's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Scott, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.

Cumberland Gap came out on top in a nail-biter against Scott when the teams last played back in March, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
