Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Ebonie Chatman and Alisela Rangel Lead Sharyland to Victory

Sharyland won the last time they faced Pharr-San Juan-Alamo and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Rattlers were the clear victors by a 63-37 margin over the Bears. The game was the first time the Rattlers have beaten the Bears on their court since November 10, 2016.

Leading Sharyland to victory were Alisela Rangel and Ebonie Chatman. Rangel went 8-for-13 to rack up 22 points and five steals, while Chatman posted 20 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. The dominant performance also gave Rangel a new career-high in field goal percentage (62%). Another player making a difference was Jayleen Berlanga, who dropped a double-double with ten points and ten boards.

Sharyland was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pharr-San Juan-Alamo only posted six.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's loss came despite strong showings from Abigail Reyes-Martinez and Tara Smith. Reyes-Martinez scored eight points and three steals, while Smith had six points.

Sharyland has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Sharyland has already played their next contest, an 81-64 victory against Somerset on the 13th. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-11 win against Providence Catholic on the 13th.
