            Baseball Recap: Monticello Billies vs. Star City Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            Monticello waltzed into their contest  on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Star City Bulldogs  a   2-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won  11-6  on April 4th.

Not much got past  Hudson Harvey, who gave up just  two  hits to keep Star City off the board. Harvey also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Monticello is 4-2 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 8-10 otherwise.
 At the plate, Monticello's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Blaine Hayden, who  went 2-for-3 with one  run.
Monticello pushed their record up to 12-12 with the  victory, which was their third straight  at home. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Star City,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 4-14.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Monticello will square off against Warren at 5:00  p.m.  on Thursday. The Lumberjacks' pitching crew has only allowed 3.1  runs per game  this season, so the Billies' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Star City, they will look to defend their home field  on Thursday against Poyen  at 4:30  p.m.
