Basketball Recap: East Burke Falls Despite Big Games from Owen Hartmann and Barger Shook

East Burke lost against Bandys back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The East Burke Cavaliers fell just short of the Bandys Trojans by a score of 60-57. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 334th, while the Trojans are ranked 166th).

Despite the defeat, East Burke had strong showings from Barger Shook, who went 6-for-9 to rack up 15 points, and Owen Hartmann, who went 5-for-12 en route to 13 points. Shook is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 47% in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Dautry Ragle, who posted eight points and three steals.

Bandys got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Dominic Robinson out in front who went 5-for-9 on his way to 15 points along with six boards and five assists. Christian Etter was another key player, putting up 14 points and five rebounds.

East Burke's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Bandys, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season.

East Burke does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Bandys, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 84-72 defeat against Lincolnton on the 18th.
