Football Recap: Jurupa Valley Takes a Loss

Jurupa Valley extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They had to suffer through a 55-3 loss at the hands of the Fontana Steelers. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-0.

As for Fontana, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 20 points this season.

Fontana's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivan Del Villar, who threw for 97 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven passes, and also rushed for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Santiago Celedonio, who gained 76 total yards and a touchdown.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jurupa Valley will take on Ontario at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fontana, they will head out to square off against Arlington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
