Volleyball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

Sparta was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Ava Bears. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Bears this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss back in September.

Emersyn Hightower paced Sparta's offense, picking up six kills. Hightower got some help from Reese Loveland and her 13 assists. Finally, Izzy (Mary) Campbell kept Sparta's defense grounded, leading the team with two blocks.

Sparta's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18-3. As for Ava, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-14-2 record this season.

Sparta has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Lutie on the 18th. As for Ava, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-1 loss against Ash Grove on the 18th.
