Soccer Game Preview: Hewitt-Trussville vs. Briarwood Christian

The Hewitt-Trussville Huskies are taking a road trip to face off against the Briarwood Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Hewitt-Trussville is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Alabama's top teams: Oak Mountain, who was ranked first at the time (Hewitt-Trussville was ranked eighth). Hewitt-Trussville lost 4-0 to Oak Mountain last Friday. The match was a close 1-0 at the break, but unfortunately for Hewitt-Trussville it sure didn't stay that way.

Meanwhile, Briarwood Christian came tearing into last Thursday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.4 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 4-2 win over the Admirals. Four seems to be a good number for Briarwood Christian as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Briarwood Christian's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those seven contests. As for Hewitt-Trussville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.

Hewitt-Trussville beat Briarwood Christian by a goal in their previous meeting back in April of 2017, winning 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hewitt-Trussville since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
