Volleyball Recap: Independence/Gilmanton Comes Up Short

Independence/Gilmanton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 3-0 to the Cochrane-Fountain City Pirates. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Pirates this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in August.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-18, 25-14.

Hailey Gruber paced Independence/Gilmanton's offense, picking up five kills. Gruber got some help from Hannah Ekern and her nine assists.

Independence/Gilmanton's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Cochrane-Fountain City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Independence/Gilmanton has already played their next matchup, a 3-2 victory against Augusta on the 25th. As for Cochrane-Fountain City, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 defeat against Pepin/Alma on the 25th.
