League recap: Nacogdoches rises in state rank

4A Region II District 16 recap September 10, 2013

Nacogdoches scaled the state rankings by moving to 355 from 593 this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region II District 16. The Dragons climbed the ranks as a result of besting Henderson 40-24.

Lindale lost to Carthage 45-17 last week, the largest margin of any game.

Whitehouse's dynamic duo of Patrick Mahomes and Jake Parker proved tough for Chapel Hill to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mahomes threw for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns and Parker had 163 yards receiving. Jaylon Dews helped Whitehouse's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 132 yards.

The Wildcats' dynamic duo of Mahomes and Parker proved to be unstoppable against the Bulldogs, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.

Mahomes put up the best numbers in passing as Whitehouse beat Chapel Hill.

He was 33-48 with 0 interceptions.

Parker was the best wideout in the league this week as Adam Cook's team topped Thomas Sitton's team.

Reggie Gipson was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 93 yards on 15 carries as Tyler defeated the Bulldogs. Geovari McCollister also contributed to the rushing game with 49 yards on the ground.

The Lions and Lancaster played the closest game in 4A Region II District 16 this week, with the Lions eventually emerging with a 31-28 victory. McCollister threw for 273 yards in the win.
