Softball Recap: Steeleville Makes It Three in a Row at Home

Steeleville hadn't done well against Valmeyer recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Warriors walked away with a 6-3 victory over the Pirates. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on Tuesday.

Corinne Mueller spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Della Dahlem was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kamryn Patterson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Steeleville pushed their record up to 6-8 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.7 runs over those games. As for Valmeyer, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Looking ahead, Steeleville will challenge New Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Yellow Jackets have averaged an impressive 6.3 runs per game this season. As for Valmeyer, they have already played their next matchup, a 10-0 loss against Dupo on the 9th.
