Softball Recap: Georgetown Takes a Loss

After flying high against Elgin last Tuesday, Georgetown came back down to earth. The Georgetown Eagles fell just short of the Dripping Springs Tigers by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2023.

With the defeat, Georgetown broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 9-8-1. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11.7 runs. As for Dripping Springs, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4-1 record this season.

Georgetown and Dripping Springs should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Georgetown will take on Hendrickson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 189 places (131 vs. 320). Georgetown's pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so Dripping Springs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Dripping Springs (ranked 39th) will meet Del Valle (ranked 132nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
