Basketball Game Preview: Roane County Raiders vs. Charleston Catholic Irish

Roane County is 2-7 against Charleston Catholic since March of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Roane County Raiders will be playing at home against the Charleston Catholic Irish at 6:00 p.m. Charleston Catholic took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Roane County, who comes in off a win.

Roane County took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. They blew past Clay County 41-17.

Anna Tolley was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten steals. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Braylin Bowe, who posted eight points and six steals.

Roane County smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in nine consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Charleston Catholic faced Greenbrier East in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Charleston Catholic was just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Greenbrier East. The Irish's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Charleston Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Roane County, their win bumped their record up to 11-5.
