Softball Recap: Copper Basin Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Copper Basin duked it out with Sweetwater on Tuesday. The Cougars lost 21-14 to the Wildcats. The Cougars have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.

Riley Akens and Claire Ledford stepped up to the plate in a big way. Akens went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI, while Ledford went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ledford is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Angela Graves, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Copper Basin's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Sweetwater, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 19-3.

As of now, neither Copper Basin nor the Wildcats have any future games scheduled.
