Softball Game Preview: Bunkie Panthers vs. Buckeye Panthers

Bunkie is 0-4 against Buckeye since April of 2016 but things could change on Thursday. We've got a battle between Panthers coming up. One thing working in Bunkie's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.

On Tuesday, Bunkie got the win against Vidalia by a conclusive 20-5. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Andi Bettevy was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in hits. Ava Webb was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Bunkie always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vidalia only posted an OBP of .400.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Buckeye and Jena, and Jena kept the tradition alive. Buckeye might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 11-1 to Jena, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Buckeye now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Bunkie, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Bunkie suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Buckeye in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Bunkie avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
