Softball Game Preview: St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs vs. Northmont Thunderbolts

The St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs will take on the Northmont Thunderbolts at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Ursula Academy is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

St. Ursula Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 win over Little Miami. Six seems to be a good number for the Bulldogs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

O Basil spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, V Oberkorn was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of J Booth, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Northmont). They blew past Xenia 18-2 on Tuesday. The Thunderbolts have beaten the Buccaneers the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Buccaneers has come to flipping the script.

St. Ursula Academy pushed their record up to 21-4 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Northmont, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
