Recap: Mitchell Tigers vs. Chadron Cardinals
The Mitchell Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 60-38 defeat to Chadron might stick with them for a while. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mitchell in their matchups with Chadron: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the defeat, Mitchell saw an underclassman step up: Addy Bowlin scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Bowlin scored a full 39.5% of Mitchell's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Mitchell bumped their record down to 3-7 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.6 points per game. As for Chadron, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mitchell will challenge Sidney at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sidney has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 379 points over their last six games. Chadron's road trip will continue as they head out to face Hemingford at 5:00 p.m. on January 9th. Hemingford has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
