Baseball Game Preview: Northside Mustangs vs. Westinghouse Warriors

For the second straight game, Northside will face off against Westinghouse. The Mustangs will venture away from home to challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Northside has four straight victories, Westinghouse has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Northside's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over Westinghouse. The Mustangs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by six runs or more this season.

Will Moran tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Northside is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-9 otherwise.

At the plate, Tyler Weigand was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was John Piper, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Northside pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Westinghouse, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8.
