Basketball Recap: Gianna Alfano's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Immaculate over Ludlowe

Immaculate was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 63-37 to the Ludlowe Falcons. The Mustangs lost against the Falcons in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 55-51 score last time.

Immaculate's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gianna Alfano, who posted 12 points. The dominant performance gave Alfano a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ciara Whitmore, who put up nine points.

Ludlowe was led to victory by Kate Cimador and Hayden McBean. Cimador earned 24 points and five assists, while McBean dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. Cimador's evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Lily Gervasi, who had seven points and six assists.

Immaculate's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Ludlowe, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home.

Immaculate didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 81-34 defeat against Northwest Catholic on the 23rd. As for Ludlowe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 68-51 loss against Sacred Heart Academy on the 23rd.
