Recap: Cristo Rey St. Martin Knights vs. Kenosha Christian Life Eagles
If the Cristo Rey St. Martin Knights were feeling good off their 60-23 takedown of Varsity Opponent last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Cristo Rey St. Martin suffered a tough 62-42 defeat at the hands of Kenosha Christian Life on Monday. Cristo Rey St. Martin has not had much luck with Kenosha Christian Life recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Cristo Rey St. Martin lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Lebron Massey, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. Massey is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jayllen Godoy, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Kenosha Christian Life's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Mason Gardner led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six steals. Gardner hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Nolan Carroll, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Cristo Rey St. Martin's defeat dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Kenosha Christian Life, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-10.
Cristo Rey St. Martin will square off against Trinity Oaks Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Cristo Rey St. Martin focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Monday. As for Kenosha Christian Life, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brookfield Academy at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kenosha Christian Life knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Brookfield Academy likes a good challenge.
