The Montville Wolves will challenge the Fitch Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Montville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Montville needed a bit of extra time to put away Old Lyme. They won by a run and slipped past the Wildcats 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wolves have posted since April 29th.

Abby Daniewicz made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over eight innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Alanna Noonan was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one double. Another player making a difference was Michalina Anton-Stavens, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Montville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Fitch faced Waterford in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Sunday. The Falcons lost 9-2 to the Lancers. The loss was just more heartbreak for the Falcons, who fell 3-1 when the teams last met back in April of 2024.
Fitch saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katie MacPherson, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Montville's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Fitch, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
Montville beat Fitch 4-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2021. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
