Baseball Recap: Lake Cormorant Takes a Loss

Lake Cormorant was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the South Panola Tigers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against South Panola this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-1 two weeks ago.

Jake Romero put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. Romero was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Romero wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dominic Clements, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple.

Lake Cormorant's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for South Panola, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 14-8.

Lake Cormorant has already played their next match (against Cleveland Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for South Panola, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Center Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
