The Summit Shasta Black Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Nani Ochoa made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 12 over 4.1 innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aliana Escobar Medrano, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Keira Wu, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Luis Valdez Leadership Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against El Primero, falling 27-12. On the bright side, the 12- run effort marked the Lions' highest-scoring contest to date.
Valerie Flores led a balanced group of hitters, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Nicole Lopez was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Summit Shasta's record is now 4-2. As for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-7.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Summit Shasta has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 11.3 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Luis Valdez Leadership Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 strikeouts. Will Summit Shasta keep running through batters, or will the Lions buck the trend?
Everything went Summit Shasta's way against Luis Valdez Leadership Academy in their previous meeting last Friday, as Summit Shasta made off with a 23-8 win.
