Soccer Game Preview: Willows vs. Orland

Willows is 1-7-1 against Orland since January of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Honkers will head out on the road to take on the Trojans at 3:15 p.m. Willows has given up an average of 3.8 goals per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Willows' offense. They lost 5-0 to Winters on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Willows can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 987th, while Winters are ranked 191st).

Meanwhile, Orland hasn't lost a match since December 10, 2025, a trend which continued in their latest game on Thursday. Their defense stepped up to hand Gridley a 2-0 shutout.

Orland pushed their record up to 8-3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those three matchups. As for Willows, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-9-1.

Willows couldn't quite get it done against Orland when the teams last played back in January of 2025 as they fell 3-1. Can the Honkers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
