Basketball Recap: Erie Tigers vs. Fairview Knights

The Erie Tigers entered their tilt with the Fairview Knights with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Erie strolled past the Knights with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 45-29. Given Erie's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Knights are ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Erie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Maddie Hartel, who scored 11 points along with three steals. Juliet Slater was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Remy Tolar, who scored seven points along with 12 rebounds. Tolar hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for ten straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hickory, who scored four points along with three steals.

Fairview struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Erie is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. As for Fairview, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Erie and the Panthers will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Fairview, they and the Red Wolves will face off at 6:30 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Loveland focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Saturday.
