Baseball Recap: Nicholas County Comes Up Short

Nicholas County and Henry County pushed the score to 11-10 the last time they played Henry County, but on Saturday defenses reigned supreme. The Bluejackets fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. The Bluejackets were not able to make up for their loss to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Ethan Ritchie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Nicholas County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 14-16 otherwise.

At the plate, Nicholas County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Adams, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Nicholas County now has a losing record of 16-17. As for Henry County, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 15-11.

Looking ahead, Nicholas County will host Bracken County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Henry County, they will square off against Anderson County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
