Dr. Krop and Varela squared off in some playoff action on Monday, but Dr. Krop had to settle for second. They and the Vipers were almost perfectly matched up, but they suffered a 13-12 defeat. The Lightning's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Varela found their leader in freshman Angelyn Molina, who threw for 240 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 72.2% of her passes. Molina's passing game has become a key predictor of the Vipers' success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Dr. Krop's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Varela, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.

Dr. Krop does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Varela, they will square off against Homestead at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Broncos' defense has only allowed 5.3 points per game this season, so the Vipers' offense will have their work cut out for them.
