Softball Game Preview: Providence Panthers vs. Charlotte Catholic Cougars

For the first time this season, Providence will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Providence Panthers face off against Charlotte Catholic Cougars at 5:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Providence made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Porter Ridge, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Providence was the clear victors by a 23-12 margin over Porter Ridge on Monday. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 10 runs per game.

Riley Wisecarver was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Emelia Zeng, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.

Providence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Porter Ridge only posted an OBP of .424.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Catholic got themselves on the board against East Mecklenburg on Monday, but East Mecklenburg never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 12-0 win. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Providence pushed their record up to 3-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.4 runs. As for Charlotte Catholic, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
